As part of PPL Electric Utilities’ commitment to providing safe and reliable electric service, we are preparing to begin work on the Morgan Distribution Resiliency Project. These improvements will help make the electric system more reliable, reduce the number and length of power outages, and allow crews to restore power more quickly after storms.
The project will commence on or about October 14th.
As part of this project, PPL may:
- Move some existing power lines to locations that are easier for crews to safely inspect, maintain, and repair.
- Replace and strengthen aging equipment and poles to better withstand severe weather.
- Install new automated equipment that can detect problems and restore power to many customers more quickly during an outage.
- Trim or remove trees and other vegetation where needed to help prevent outages caused by branches contacting power lines.
These improvements will strengthen approximately 1 mile of the Morgan electric system along Abington Road and Venard Road and improve service reliability for hundreds of customers in the area.
Most work will take place during normal daytime hours. Some activities may require temporary traffic control. PPL will work to reduce disruptions to nearby homes, businesses, and property as much as possible during construction. If a planned power outage is needed to safely complete the work, affected customers will be notified in advance whenever possible.
Project Benefits
- Make the electric system more reliable, especially during severe weather.
- Reduce how often power outages happen and help keep outages shorter when they do occur.
- Restore power more quickly after storms.
- Strengthen the local electric system to support the community now and in the future.
